Lagonda EV Vision Concept, An Ultra-Luxury Limo By Aston Martin

Aston Martin is proud to present Lagonda Vision Concept, marking the beginning of a new range of state of the art, emission-free luxury vehicles. Production is planned to start in 2021.

Lagonda aims to be the world’s first zero emission luxury brand. It will confound traditional thinking and take full advantage of the latest advances in electrification and autonomous driving technologies, which amount to the biggest revolution in land-bound transportation since the invention of the car.

At 5.3m long, and clothed in a body that is unapologetically confrontational, iconoclastic, and utterly magnificent, Aston Martin is reactivating Lagonda in response to trends among the new global super-elite.

Lagonda’s concept interior, meanwhile, was designed in partnership with David Snowdon and uses cutting-edge composites. But the carbon fiber and ceramics are then draped in old-timey materials like cashmere and silk, ensuring you’ll never want to eat or drink inside this car.

Aston Martin claims that the vehicle will have battery storage sufficient to get you 400 miles. In addition, the car will come with the latest innovations in wireless charging or an 80-percent recharge using DC fast charging in as little as 15 minutes.

Bucherer BLUE EDITION Handmade Harley-Davidson, The World’s Most Expensive Motorcycle

The Harley Davidson BLUE EDITION is a handmade motorbike par excellence, which took over 2,500 hours of work to produce. This motorcycle, which is customised by hand in Maienfeld, is the ultimate in self-expression.

But it is not only the 360 diamonds, gold-plated screws, two safes that are integrated into the tank and contain a one-of-a-kind watch from Carl F. Bucherer as well as rings from Bucherer Fine Jewellery, or the thrilling design of the engine that make this iridescent blue bike – the only one of its kind in the world – a true work of art.

At 1.8 million CHF, it is also the most expensive motorcycle in the world. The Harley-Davidson BLUE EDITION is based on a Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S. However, there is not a great deal left that is reminiscent of the initial model with its cool vintage style.

The complete frame of the motorcycle is welded seamlessly, and even the rims are custom-made. The rotating camshaft is visible through a window in the camshaft housing, as are the valve control and the gold-plated throttle valves.

Heat-resistant LED lights illuminate the scene. The Harley-Davidson BLUE EDITION is thus the world’s first motorcycle to have a motor that is lit up from the inside. Various parts of the motorcycle are also gold-plated.

It took the watchmakers of Carl F. Bucherer, the jewellers of Bucherer Fine Jewellery and the specialists of Bündnerbike a year to design and produce the Harley-Davidson BLUE EDITION. A team of eight employees from both companies contributed all of their expertise.

World-First 3D Printed Airless Bicycle Tire That Will Never Go Flat

BigRep’s new flexible filament means you can print industrial objects that bend to your will. We printed the world’s first 3D printed airless bicycle tire using our new PRO FLEX material – a TPU-based filament – and took it for a spin in Berlin.

We were able to replace ‘air’ as a necessity in the tire by customizing the pattern to be one of a three-layered honeycomb design. Based on the same principle, the design can be altered to fit the requirements of specific kinds of biking, such as mountain biking and road racing, or for different weather and speed conditions.read more: bigrep

The current tire prototype uses a three-layered honeycomb pattern adapted for urban use. The main advantage of airless tires as opposed to your average run-of-the-mill tires is that they simply never go flat.

Once a luxury, airless tires are now looking to become standard practice in the transportation world.Unfortunately, the cyclists who want to try it will have to print it themselves, as this prototype is just a concept design.

100% Electric Personal Flying Vehicle - Flyer

Meet our first personal flying vehicle. Flyer is 100% electric and the first step to make flying a part of everyday life.Kitty Hawk Corporation Revealed the production version of its single-seat Flyer — an electric-powered 10-rotor vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

The Flyer’s primary goal is to be a recreational vehicle that just about anyone can learn to fly. As detailed on the craft’s spec page, It’s lifted by 10 electrically-driven props. The Flyer has large pontoons in lieu of traditional landing gear, as Kitty Hawk recommends it be flown over water.

In the interest of safety, top speed of the vehicle has been limited to 20 miles per hour, and altitude caps out at 10 feet. At max speed, it is able to fly 12 to 20 minutes before needing to come in for a recharge.

The all-electric Flyer aircraft is undergoing public testing and is now available for pre-order. Operators don’t require a pilot’s license, but do need to undergo a one-hour training course to fly the aircraft, controlled by a joystick in the cockpit.

SeaBubbles, A Futuristic Zero-Emission E-Powered Flying Water Taxi

A new zero-emission water taxi called SeaBubbles, developed in partnership with ABB, was taken out onto Lake Geneva in Switzerland where it took the opportunity to show off its capabilities. The concept for the water taxi, the hydrofoils that give it its lift and the flight control system were designed by Caponnetto-Hueber.

It works using a hydrofoil which lifts it above the water and it can reach speeds of 18 mph.The creators want to make it work like an Uber service, using an app to hail a ride. The plan would be to have docking stations along a river to reduce road traffic in major cities.

The vehicle uses hydrofoil technology to lift the hull of the boat out of the water and an array of advanced sensors to keep the vehicle perfectly balanced and stable. The sensors work together with the vehicle controls to compensate for the pitch, roll, and height of the vehicle in an effort to minimize the sensations that cause sea sickness.

Sensor data feeds into the fly by wire system – also known as a semiautonomous or computerized control system – that manages the position of the 3 flaps on the foils to keep the craft stable regardless of conditions on the water. The video below presents a compelling image from the initial display of the vehicle’s capabilities.

As the hydrofoils lift the hull out of the water when underway, water resistance to the bulk of the vehicle is minimized, leaving only the hydrofoils themselves and the three connections up to the body of the boat in contact with the water.

Saildrone USVs Robots Sailing

Intelligent, indestructible and with no humans on board, these sailboats are plotting their own course through the waters of San Francisco Bay. If Richard Jenkins gets his way, soon there’ll be hundreds of them – trawling the oceans for data.

Saildrones are Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) designed for long range long duration ocean data collection missions of up to 12 months. Launched and retrieved from a dock, the Saildrone fleet navigates to a chosen study area using wind power for propulsion, transiting at 3-5 knots.

Each drone then starts collecting high resolution data, either holding station or following a survey pattern as required by the specific mission objectives.

Saildrone USVs operate around the world, in any ocean conditions. By augmenting expensive ship observations with a fleet of Saildrones, science-grade data can cost-effectively and autonomously be gathered over large ocean areas.

The Saildrone USV carries a comprehensive scientific sensor suite measuring key environmental variables, from atmospheric to surface and sub-surface.Saildrone USVs can also carry a pCO2 sensor for carbon applications, an ADCP for current profiling and a specialized echo sounder for fish stock assessment and survey grade depth.

Explore Sri Lanka’s Cave of Golden Buddhas

The town of Dambulla in Sri Lanka is home to the largest cave complex in the country. With a labyrinth containing over 80 documented caves, five in particular stand out from the rest.

Unlike the others, these five have been converted into sprawling temples where visitors can view golden statues, depictions of Buddha and over 1,500 different paintings.

The temple caves have been around for 22 centuries; thanks to conservation efforts, they will be around for many more to come. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses.

The latter include Vishnu and the Ganesha.Prehistoric Sri Lankans would have lived in these cave complexes before the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka as there are burial sites with human skeletons about 2700 years old in this area, at Ibbankatuwa near the Dambulla cave complexes.

Lit Motors’ C-1 Is a Self-Stabilizing Gyro Stabilization Technology

Litmotors designed the C-1 for efficient high-speed travel.Influenced by Scandinavian design, the exterior of the C-1 is both approachable and simple, enveloping you in subtle curves, softened volumes, and expansive glass. You can easily slipping through traffic and once at your destination, you can park in the smallest spaces.

The C-1 is fully-enclosed, protecting you from the elements. It has all the comforts you expect from a car, like climate control and a premium sound system. With a familiar interface, the C-1 is as easy to drive as a traditional car.

No need to shift your weight or countersteer–the gyros take care of that for you. If you can drive a car, you can drive a C-1.The C-1 uses high-torque in-hub electric motors, saving space and providing a responsive driving experience.

These motors regenerate energy while braking, using a KERS to store the energy kinetically in the gyro flywheels. The C-1 is designed to transport you and your daily essentials, with room for a passenger when needed. The interior is surprisingly spacious for such a compact vehicle.

The C-1 is 100% electric, using a small 10 kWh battery pack to travel up to 200 miles per charge. And the C-1 is freeway-ready, with a top speed of 100+ mph and acceleration of 0-60 in six seconds.

The “secret sauce” of the C-1 is our patented gyroscopic stability system. We use electronically-controlled control moment gyroscopes (CMGs) to generate thousands of ft-lbs of torque. The gyros are controlled by the vehicle, allowing it to lean itself into and out of turns, and stay upright when stopped–even in a collision!
