Meet Honda’s New Mean Mower V2 a 1000cc 109HP Beast
On March 8th 2014, Honda’s Mean Mower hit 116.57mph at the IDIADA proving ground near Barcelona to become the World’s Fastest Lawnmower. Four years on, it’s coming back – faster, louder meaner…and now Fireblade-powered.
It’s once again being built by Honda’s BTCC partner, Team Dynamics, and this time rising race star Jessica Hawkins will be behind the wheel.
This monster is a lawn mower set-up and geared to achieve a top speed in excess of 209km/h, weighing just 140kg, producing 96Nm of torque, an incredible PTW ratio of 532bhp and an estimated 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just four seconds.
The engine – a 999cc four-cylinder unit taken from Honda’s high-performing CBR1000RR Fireblade SP motorcycle – produces more than 190bhp at 13,000rpm. Honda also used lots of other parts from the Fireblade motorcycle inkling the clutch, ECU, 6-speed drive unit, and LCD display.
Shifting is via a quick shift system using steering wheel-mounted paddles. The Mean Mower is taking shape.Watch as it comes to life for the very first time with rising star Jess Hawkins behind the wheel.
